Search demand for a YouTube video downloader never really dropped — it just moved from shady desktop apps to the browser. SaveSnap is the browser version: paste a public watch link, Shorts link or youtu.be URL, then save a progressive MP4 (video and audio already together).
What “progressive MP4” means
YouTube stores most HD files as separate video and audio streams. Gluing them needs FFmpeg, which cheap shared hosting (including typical Hostinger plans) does not provide. We therefore show only formats that already contain both picture and sound, plus an audio-only M4A when the player lists one. That is honest. Sites promising “8K MP3 in two seconds” are either lying or running a warehouse of servers you will pay for with popunders.
YouTube Shorts downloader
Shorts use the same 11-character video id. Copy the Shorts URL and treat it like any other YouTube video. Vertical files stay vertical.
Will not work — by design
- Private, unlisted-with-restriction, members-only
- Age-gated videos that require a Google login
- Some live premieres until they are fully processed (VOD)
- Cipher-only streams that need a full yt-dlp runtime
If you later move SaveSnap to a VPS, the Super Admin panel can point the engine at a custom API that does run yt-dlp. The public site stays the same.
Offline study, not piracy
Download the lecture you will revise on a train. Do not rip a Netflix-adjacent film someone re-uploaded, and do not re-host a creator’s course. YouTube’s Terms still apply to you as the user. Read our Terms and DMCA pages.
